Information about current seating for orchestral musicians was sought from a group of 28 organisations where classical music is regularly played. Musicians' satisfaction with some commercially available chairs specifically designed to meet the needs of musicians were also assessed. Most musicians expressed dissatisfaction with the chairs used, but there was widespread ignorance about why musicians can become uncomfortable after short periods of playing, or of what can be done to help. |
