Detection and decolonization of Staphylococcus aureusprior to surgery is postulated as an option to reduce the risk of infection in arthroplasties. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of a screening programme for S. aureusin total knee arthroplasty (TKA) and total hip arthroplasty (THA), the incidence of infection with respect to a historical cohort, and its economic viability. |
