مستخلص: •Panicum antidotaleshowed outmost response in micro-architectural and physiological traits towards altitudinal gradients.•Structural adaptations encompass increased root and stem radius, tissue sclerification, and enlarged bulliform cells.•Functional adaptations comprised the regulation of defense mechanisms, accumulation of ionic contents and photosynthetic pigments.•Overall, low to medium elevations are favorable for the growth and propagation of Panicum antidotale.
