| الوصف: | El vértigo es un movimiento ilusorio objetivo o subjetivo acompañado de nauseas, vómito y nistagmus. Se evaluó la evidencia disponible sobre eficacia y seguridad de la acupuntura en vértigo periférico (VP), mediante la búsqueda, localización, evaluación y análisis de estudios clínicos aleatorizados (ECAs) que compararan la acupuntura versus terapia convencional, placebo o acupuntura simulada en adultos. Se realizaron búsquedas exhaustivas en ACUBASE, EMBASE, COCHRANE, MEDLINE y otras fuentes. Sólo se logró conseguir un ECA. No hay suficiente evidencia disponible a nuestro alcance para concluir sobre la eficacia y seguridad de la acupuntura en VP. Existen serias limitaciones en occidente para acceder a publicaciones asiáticas hechas sobre el tema. No hay unificación de criterios de los autores chinos sobre lo que denominan VP. Es necesario superar esta brecha que dificulta avanzar en una verdadera medicina integrativa. Se debe realizar ECAs de buena calidad metodológica para evaluar este campo poco explorado. Considerando las infranqueables limitaciones de recursos y con el propósito de evaluar la evidencia disponible, se decidió incluir como anexo, un análisis crítico narrativo de los documentos que fueron excluidos por no reunir los criterios de inclusión. / Abstract. Vertigo is a subjective or objective illusory motion accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and nystagmus. Available evidence about efficacy and safety of acupuncture in peripheral vertigo (PV) was evaluated, by means search, location, evaluation and analysis of randomized clinical trials (RCTs) of acupuncture versus conventional therapy, placebo or sham acupuncture in adults. Exhaustive searches in ACUBASE, EMBASE, COCHRANE, MEDLINE and other sources to search for published and unpublished studies were done. It was only one RCT obtained. There is insufficient evidence available to us to conclude about acupuncture efficacy in PV. There are serious limitations in west to access Asian publications about this issue. There are no uniform criteria of the Chinese authors about VP. It is necessary to overcome this gap that prevents a true integrative medicine. It should be conducted RCTs of good methodological quality to evaluate this unexplored field. Considering the insurmountable limitations of resources and for the purpose of evaluating the available evidence, it was decided to annex a narrative critical analysis of the documents that were excluded for not fulfilling the inclusion criteria.
