Introduction: This study evaluated the impact of maternal pre-pregnancy BMI (body mass index) on adipose tissue distribution and weight gain in pregnancy, as well as delivery outcomes, in a cohort of women with term, singleton pregnancies with no history of chronic diseases. All participants are part of the CRoatian Islands` Birth Cohort Study (CRIBS), an ongoing project investigating risk factors for the development of metabolic syndrome.
