الوصف: Fatigue is a common symptom in multiple sclerosis(MS), and has a large impact on daily functioning ofpatients. In the Netherlands, fatigue in MS is usuallytreated in a multidisciplinary rehabilitation setting, and often consists of physical training and energyconservation management. In the Dutch MS guideline(2012), amantadine and modafinil are suggestedas treatment options as well. In this paper, recent literatureon various treatments for MS-related fatigueis discussed. It is concluded that multidisciplinaryrehabilitation treatment, aerobic training and energyconservation management do not seem to be effectivetreatments for MS-related fatigue. Evidence forpharmacotherapy is still inconclusive; amantadinemight be effective. Cognitive behavioral therapy(CBT) for MS-related fatigue does show positiveshort-term effects. We present a study aimed at nationwideimplementation of CBT for fatigue and improvinglong term outcome following treatment.
