| الوصف: | Resumen: La Puna es un desierto de altura que se extiende al norte de Chile y Argentina, contando con una tradición de más de veinticinco años de estudios de la flora desde perspectivas arqueológicas en su porción correspondiente al actual territorio argentino. Especialmente en los últimos años han tenido lugar desarrollos empeñados en contribuir a la comprensión del papel de las plantas para sus antiguos habitantes, dándole profundidad temporal. En este trabajo se recorren reflexivamente los resultados y alcances de los enfoques implementados en esa línea en el sector de la Puna salada situado al Noroeste de la provincia de Catamarca, correspondiente a la cuenca de Antofagasta de la Sierra, con el propósito de recuperar saberes y modos de uso de las plantas en el pasado prehispánico del área. Mediante abordajes microscópicos de diferentes materiales que han sido puestos a dialogar con aproximaciones tecnológicas y contextuales, se han explorado diversas manipulaciones, usos y circunstancias de uso de las plantas en la larga duración. En una escala más amplia, ello contribuye a comprender cómo se inserta este sector de la Puna, con su propia identidad, en un contexto mayor de tradiciones de uso de la flora en el área circumpuneña de los Andes Centro-Sur. Abstract: The Puna is a high desert that stretches north of Chile and Argentina, with a tradition of over twenty five years of study of the flora from archaeological perspectives in the corresponding portion of the Argentinean territory. As part of this tradition, particularly in recent years it has sought to contribute to understand the role of plants to the ancient inhabitants of the basin of Antofagasta de la Sierra in the long term. This has meant passing from a study of the plant components of the archaeological record to an Archeology of plants. Here we propose a thoughtful tour of certain themes and approaches of studies on plants in this high desert, rather than an exhaustive summary of the history of this disciplinary field. Our aim is to establish, from our research experience, how can vary the knowledge we produce on flora when frameworks, interests and objectives of the research change. We also want to argue that an Archaeology of plants in the desert is only possible if we strip away the traditional preconceptions about the paramo.
