Drilling is a process where a multi-point tool used to remove unwanted materials to produce a desired hole. The different methods of drilling which is through-hole and peck drilling gives different results at the end of the process. In this case, the higher temperature when drilling at different methods especially under dry condition will increase the tool wear which lead to lower dimensional accuracy and higher surface roughness. Therefore, to investigate the effects of different methods of drilling on hole dimensional accuracy and surface roughness, a HSS drill were used to drill medium carbon steel AISI 1045 at constant cutting speed and feed rate using CNC machine. In this study, higher hole dimensional accuracy and lower surface roughness results were produced using peck drilling method. This indicates that peck drilling were better compared to the through hole drilling for the hole dimensional accuracy and surface roughness.
