Two hundred and twenty-three people completed either only the Structural Profile Inventory (SPI) Lazarus, 1989) or both the SPI and the Vocational Preference Inventory (VPI) (Holland, 1966, 1985). Correlations were computed among the scales of these two instruments, demonstrating concurrent validity for five of the SPI scales. A factor analysis was computed demonstrating the factor validity of the SPI and Cronbach's alpha was computed for each of the seven scales of the SPI, demonstrating internal consistency. The results of this study demonstrate that the SPI is a valid and reliable instrument.
