Two Co(II)-containing complexes, [Co6(SO4)2(BTEC)(OH)4·3H2O]n (1) and [Co2(BTEC)(4-bpdb)(H2O)2·4H2O]n (2) (H4BTEC = 1,2,4,5-benzenetetracarboxylic acid; 4-bpdb = 1,4-bis(4-pyridyl)-2,3-diaza-1,3-butadiene) have been successfully synthesized. Single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that complex 1 exhibits a 3D intricate framework, whereas 2 features a pillared-layer with (4,5)-connected net topology. Magnetic studies demonstrate that antiferromagnet and weak ferromagnetism behaviour are observed in 1 and 2, respectively.
