الوصف: This paper presents the results of the 30-day performance test trials of the Biological Aerated Filter systems at the Wetzel Road Waste Water Treatment Plant and Binghamton-Johnson City Joint Sewage Treatment Plant. The Wetzel Road WWTP treats an average flow of 258.6 L/sec (5.9 mgd), a max month flow of 346.3 L/sec (7.9 mgd) and a peak flow of 574.2 L/sec (13.1 mgd) and discharges to the Seneca River. The new plant upgrades consists of addition of two stages of biological active filters (BAF) for carbonaceous BOD removal (four C-stage filters) and nitrification for ammonia removal (four N-stage filters). The Binghamton-Johnson City JSTP BAF system treats an average flow of 1,503.4 L/sec (34.3 mgd), a max month flow of 1,946.1 L/sec (44.4 mgd) and a peak flow of 3,068.1 L/sec (70 mgd) and discharges to the Susquehanna River. The plant consists of three stages in series with 8 C-stage filters, 8 N-stage filters and 4 DN-stage filters.
