| الوصف: | AIMS AND METHOD: A standard group course for smoking cessation will be described. Two case studies illustrate the way the program works. RESULTS: Both individuals concluded the course as non-smokers. Because Ms. L. G. suffered from a pre-existing depressive condition, she followed the recommended method of reduction to minimize the risk of depression caused by nicotine deprivation. Mr. K. M., on the other hand, reaches his goal by setting a date to stop smoking, which is the primarily used method in group programs. CONCLUSIONS: The structured diagnostic at the beginning of the course creates the conditions for the individual therapy during the standard group course. The group supports and strengthens each smoker's motivation to proceed to abstinence. |
