Using the picture-word interference paradigm (where participants are instructed to name pictures and ignore distractor words presented at the same time), we aim to investigate whether distractors sharing a non-adjacent phonological overlap (i.e. non-adjacent overlapping phonemes) with the target will lead to a facilitation effect in German, as has been previously reported for Arabic (Elbuy & Bürki, in preparation).
