| الوصف: | Stratigraphic, paleoclimatic, pedological, and archaeological study of cuts in the area of the confluence of the Adour and Midouze rivers defines several Quaternary formations. Analysis of the clay shows a mineralogical break between the lower kaolin-rich beds and the overlying beds rich in illite and interbedded chlorite-vermiculite. This break is described from the Chalosse alluvials and at the base of the Landes eolian sands. Although the suites of heavy minerals are generally homogeneous in these cuts, two zones can be recognized: one by well preserved metamorphic minerals; the other by more resistant minerals that withstood alteration. |
