الوصف: Lupus pernio is a rare cutaneous manifestation of sarcoidosis.1It was first described by Besnier in 1889,2who proposed the name lupus pernio to describe a patient with multiple violaceous nodules of a chronic nature involving the face and extremities. It usually manifests itself as chronic, violaceous, nodules or plaques on the nose, cheeks, ears, and distal extremities.1These lesions commonly result in considerable deformity, with fibrosis and scarring.3The diagnosis of lupus pernio is made by typical clinical presentation and histopathologic finding of sarcoidal granuloma. Treatment of lupus pernio is aimed at preventing progression, promoting regression, or alleviating symptoms with the creation of minimal side effects.1Corticosteroids remain the mainstay of treatment. Report of a Case. A 42-year-old African-American woman was referred to the dermatology clinic with a 3-year history of gradually enlarging and disfiguring papules on her nose and lower eyelids.
