To improve the output performance (torque, torque ripple, cogging torque) of the vernier motor, a consequent-pole unequal Halbach permanent magnet vernier motor (CPUHPMVM) has been proposed. Compared with the other two kinds of vernier motor topologies, the difference of topology is expounded. Based on the analytic formula of the objective function, the sensitivity of some parameters is analyzed. The Pareto frontiers of the NSGA-II algorithm based on RSM and the optimal solution set of the PSO algorithm are compared, and the electromagnetic properties of the three topologies are compared through finite element analysis (FEM). Finally, the prototype with the optimal parameters is manufactured, and the effectiveness and advantages of the optimization algorithm are verified by experiments.
