DASH broadcast is a recent topic and many standardization bodies are incorporating it. This work provides optimizations for the key metrics that determine the QoE for ATSC 3.0 object-based broadcast: the end-to-end latency, tune-in delay, and channel change times. The system employs DASH broadcast over IP-based ROUTE protocol. The performance of different encoding schemes is compared and encoding-dependent end-to-end latency is evaluated. The receiver-end optimization for tune-in delay exploiting hybrid capability of DASH/ROUTE system is proposed. The quantitative results demonstrate the performance enhancements achieved.
