By using dielectric (polyethylene terephthalate) detectors we succeeded in detecting Ne and Mg nuclei in the radioactive decay of heavy nuclei with Z⩾90. Cluster identification was performed using the V T /V B (R residual) method. Our technology of detector treatment permitted resolutions ΔZ = ± 0.15 and Δ M = ± 1 in the region of atomic numbers
