The aim of this book was to draw together available information and viewpoints on the past, present, and future of one particular area, the central wheatbelt of Western Australia, with a view to providing information relevant to other fragmented landscapes world-wide. In order to assess the generality of the discussions in this book, we first have to establish whether the central wheatbelt area is a useful model for other areas.
