| الوصف: | J Roger Owen trained in clinical oncology at the Middlesex and the Royal Marsden hospitals. He spent a year of his training in Paris, where he worked with Professor Bernard Pierquin and became expert in newly developed techniques of brachytherapy. Roger started work in Gloucestershire’s oncology centre in 1981. He brought with him a range of clinical skills learnt in London and Paris and critical research links with the Royal Marsden Hospital. Invigorating this small cancer centre, he modernised treatment techniques across all modalities. He introduced a brachytherapy service, which he personally delivered with immense skill, and became the joint director of a successful international brachytherapy teaching course. He forged clinical and research links in Herefordshire and Worcestershire that ultimately led to the Three Counties Cancer Centre, with its heart in Cheltenham.
