الوصف: An investigation was made of the cause of the instability of the self-modulation frequency ωm of a monolithic Nd : YAG ring laser. One of the main reasons for this instability was a strong temperature dependence of the effective coupling coefficients of counterpropagating waves characterising extracavity components. A method for weakening such coupling was proposed and implemented experimentally. This method made it possible to reduce the instability of the self-modulation frequency by over two orders of magnitude.
