الوصف: Objectives: To evaluate the long-term efficacy of lumbar sympathetic ganglion blockade with phenol for low-back syndromes and to identify factors which may enhance the long-term success of this procedure. Study-design: Survival analysis of the period of pain relief following a successful lumbar sympathetic ganglion blockade with phenol for low-back syndromes. Patients and methods: A total of 90 consecutive patients were screened, who were treated with blockade of the lumbar sympathetic ganglion for low-back syndromes. In patients responding to a diagnostic blockade of the lumbar sympathetic ganglion, neurolysis of this structure with phenol was performed. Patients who were considered to have had clinical benefit from lumbar sympathetic ganglion blockade with phenol and who did not experience a relapse of their complaints in the follow-up period were included for an assessment by questionnaire.
