الوصف: With thousands of confirmed exoplanets, the era of discovery is giving way to that of characterization. Direct imaging is crucial, but extremely difficult due to high star-to-planet contrasts and high angular resolutions. Nulling interferometry, which suppresses contaminating starlight via destructive interference, aims to meet this challenge. A pathfinder of this technique is the GLINT nuller: a 6-baseline, spectrally dispersed pupil-remapping interferometer deployed at the Subaru telescope, in which a single photonic chip performs all the critical optical processes. We present the instrument, novel data processing based on self-calibrating methods, laboratory characterization and the latest on-sky results.
