الوصف: Hydrophobins are a group of small, low molecular weight cysteine-rich fungal proteins found in the hyphae walls of fungi. Due to their composition, hydrophobins have the surface-modifying ability to form an amphiphilic membrane at the hydrophobichydrophilic interface in an aqueous solution which can be used to coat hydrophobic surfaces and change their nature. This property has applications in increasing the bioavailability of low aqueous solubility hydrophobic compounds by preparation of nanosuspensions. The low solubility hinders their efficacy in being used as therapeutic drugs. The objective of this review is to explore the medical application of hydrophobins in the preparation of hydrophobin-drug nanosuspension in order to increase the bioavailability of hydrophobic drugs and to explore the stability of these nanosuspensions using five hydrophobic therapeutics - curcumin, nifedipine, cyclosporine, docetaxel, and amphotericin.
