| الوصف: | Integrated coastal zone management is globally considered as an essential tool to effectively protect and sustain coastal resources. This approach is considered to be tenable due to the inadequacies in the current management practices of the administrative, physical-natural, and socio-economic subsystems. While France has consolidated and proposed numerous projects involving integrated coastal zone management, appropriate strategic planning and implementation of coastal management remain largely ambiguous in one of France’s most prominent bays, the Bay of Saint Brieuc. Here we document the relevant factors (administrative-legal, physical-natural, and socio-economic subsystems) that are intrinsic to understand the risks and assessment strategies required to construct a better management strategy. We also show results from granulometric analysis carried out in this study that could be utilized for the Environmental Sensitivity Index (ESI) to understand the risk associated with 10 beaches along the Bay of Saint Brieuc. Finally, we propose a series of general objectives to strengthen integrated coastal zone management in the Bay. |
