الوصف: This study examines the ways in which U.S. imperialism manifests domestically during the period of late U.S. imperial hegemony through its decline (1990-2023) with an emphasis on overlapping elements of the national security state, domestic surveillance, and policing. Through the textual analysis of relevant legislation, Congressional investigations, and declassified documents the relationship between the U.S. empire abroad and the “empire” at home is established. The study challenges commonly held understandings regarding the impact of U.S. foreign policy domestically and illuminates the dialectical relationship between national security and American ideals of liberal democracy.
