Les récits post-apocalyptiques de zombies envahissent la littérature et le cinéma depuis les années 1960 et les films cultes de George A. Romero. Néanmoins, ce n’est que depuis la fin des années 2000 que le zombie apparaît à la télévision dans des séries télévisuelles (The Walking Dead ou IZombie, entre autres). Parmi les nouveaux récits qui offrent un traitement sériel de cette figure monstrueuse, Z Nation (2014-2018) apporte un nouveau regard sur l’apocalypse zombie. Tout en suivant les traditions du genre, cette série télévisuelle américaine s’affranchit des codes du réalisme afin d’analyser en profondeur la figure même du zombie, mais également l’effondrement sociétal dont il est presque systématiquement responsable. While following the traditions of the genre, this particular American TV show breaks away from realistic codes in order to further explore not only zombies themselves, but also the societal collapse these monsters almost systematically bring about.
