Zahvaljujući svom povoljnom topografskom položaju, Vinkovci su prostor na kojem su se kontinuirano nasljeđivale kulture. Najuže gradsko područje pokazuje kontinuitet naseljavanja od neolitika do današnjeg vremena (oko 7000 godina) čime se Vinkovci iskazuju kao jedno od najstarijih naselja na tlu Europe. Kroz ovaj diplomski rad prikazat ću taj kontinuitet od prapovijesti sve do Domovinskog rata. Osvrnit ću se, također i na Vinkovce u rimsko doba, na Vojnu krajinu i dva Svjetska rata. Ovim radom želim opisati i objasniti nastanak mog rodnog grada, prikazati svu njegovu kulturu i proces nastajanja. Thanks to its favorable topographic position, the town of Vinkovci has always been an area in which cultures are continually inhabited. The centre od the town shows the continuity of settlements from the Neolithic up to the present time (about 7,000 years ago), which makes Vinkovci one of the oldest settlements in Europe. Through this graduate thesis I will present this continuity from prehistory until the Homeland War. I will also present Vinkovci in the Roman Empire, the Military Border and the two World Wars. With this work, I want to describe and explain the birth of my native city, to showcase all of its culture and the process of its emergence.
