الوصف: In this study, the effects of microwave heating on limestone were investigated and its benefits for the limestone calcination were tried to be determined. The study was conducted in two stages. Firstly, the limestone samples were treated with microwave for different output power and durations, then sonic velocity (P-wave) and specific surface area of the samples were determined. The differences between the samples were tried to be determined by these experiments. Secondly, some processed samples with microwave in the first stage were kept in 1000°C, also sonic velocity (P-wave) of the samples was measured and specific surface area of the samples was determined. At the end of the tests, limestone calcination by microwave was found to decrease the calcinations process time and, in addition, reduce the energy costs and CO 2 release.
