الوصف: Investigation was conducted on the failure of the crankshaft made from 48MnV alloy steel used in automotive engines. Magnetic flaw defects were detected at the transition fillet between the third main journal and the counterweight of the crankshaft. Macroscopic examination, chemical composition analysis, metallographic analysis, and scanning electron microscopy observation were performed on the crankshaft samples. The testing results were summarized, and the causes of the crankshaft cracking were systematically analyzed. The results indicate that longitudinal cracks occurred on the surface of the crankshaft journal due to the combined effect of thermal stress and normal operating stress, exceeding its load-bearing capacity. These cracks propagated inward, forming magnetic flaw cracks, ultimately leading to crankshaft failure.
