| الوصف: | Resumen Nos proponemos analizar un conjunto de pasajes del Libro I de Historias de Heródoto en que se narran diversas instancias de consultas al oráculo de Delfos. Seleccionamos entre ellas las reiteradas preguntas que formula el rey Creso de Lidia acerca de la guerra contra los persas, y sus singulares interpretaciones de las respuestas de la Pitia (1. 46-48, 53-56). Se consideran también episodios similares enmarcados en la digresión acerca de las guerras entre Lacedemonia y Tegea (1. 66-68). Abordamos el corpus desde la perspectiva del análisis del discurso, diferenciando las intencionalidades de los personajes, los grados de explicitación de los enunciados citados por el narrador-historiador y la configuración metafórica de los mensajes oraculares. La particular “lógica” de la palabra divina, que no deja de ocultar la verdad, y la limitación humana en la interpretación, pueden conducir a trágicos malentendidos. Abstract We propose to analyze a set of passages of the book 1 of Herodotus’ Histories in which diverse instances of consultations to the oracle of Delphi are narrated. We selected the repeated questions formulated by King Croesus of Lydia concerning the war against the Persians, and his unique interpretations of the Pythia’s answers (1. 46-48, 53-56). Similar episodes are also considered framed in the digression about the wars between Lacedaemon and Tegea (1. 66-68). We approach the corpus fromthe perspective of discourse analysis, differentiating the characters’ intentionalities, the level of explicitness of the statements quoted by the narrator-historian and the metaphorical configuration of the oracular messages. The particular "logic" of the divine word, which lingers at obscuring the truth, and the human limitation in interpretation can lead to tragic misunderstandings.
