الوصف: Among the macro and microorganisms most closely related to the plant root system, specifically in the rhizosphere, are Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi (FMAs). The objective of this work was to quantify and identify the glomerospores of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi present in manihot (Manihot esculenta Crantz) from different producers of the Santa Isabel settlement, located in the city of Girau do Ponciano, Alagoas. The extraction of glomerospores was by the technique of decantation and sieving allied to the centrifugation and flotation in sucrose. The slides were prepared with samples of all the morphologically different fungi found in all treatments. The morphological approach was used to identify the genera on slides. Polyvinyl alcohol and lactoglycerol (PVLG) were used on one side of the slide, on the other side melzer plus PVLG, in a ratio of 1: 1. A mean of 36.9 spores per 50g of soil was obtained, in a total of 689 glomerospores. From the obtained results it is possible to observe that there is a considerable number of AMF in soils where there is cassava cultivation, where three genera of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi were identified in the rhizosphere of the millet: Glomus, Entrophospora and Ambispora. The genus Glomus had a higher relative frequency compared to the other genera identified in the study. It is possible to conclude that there are a considerable number of FMAs, 689 glomerospores in all, in the soils where there is cassava cultivation in the region of the Santa Isabel settlement.
