| مستخلص: | Frente a la imagen tradicional de la politeía espartiata trasmitida, entre otros, por Jenofonte, Tucídides, Platón y Aristóteles, Heródoto nos ofrece en sus Historias una caracterización del edificio institucional lacedemonio que desmiente la pretendida concordia y equilibrio de poderes de sus magistraturas. El objetivo del presente trabajo es intentar dar cuenta del énfasis, en apariencia desmedido, de la narración herodotea sobre las figuras de los reyes espartanos en la conducción de la política lacedemonia, en desmedro de las demás instituciones (el eforado, la Gerousía y la Apélla).In contrast to the traditional characteristics of the Spartan politeía as depicted by Xenophon, Thucydides, Plato and Aristotle, among others, Herodotus conjures up in the Histories a vision of the Lacedaemonian institutional framework which runs counter to the alledged balance of power of its magistrates. The purpose of this paper is to account for the seemingly undue emphasis laid by Herodotus on the dual monarchy as the key policy-making institution in Sparta, to the detriment of the other governing bodies such as the ephors, the Gerousia and the Apella. |
