| مستخلص: | Placer Dome has instituted the Minex programme at many of its gold mines in order to study, evaluate and identify potential extensions to the orebodies and new deposits on the mine properties. It is based on the integration of geological elements with mine plans and has been shown to be cost-effective. The Minex approach showed dramatic success at the Kidston gold mine in Australia. A new geological model was used to set up an exploration drilling programme, resulting in a discovery which increased the mine's reserves by 23 580 000 t with a grade of 1.28 g/t. The success resulted from the collaboration of mine and exploration geologists. Strong site management and board-level support for this approach was also important. Other successes include discoveries at Detour Lake and Dome mines in Ontario. The Minex programme has been introduced at Campbell in Ontario, Sigma, Lamaque and Kiena in Quebec, and Bald Mountain and Cortez in Nevada.
