Mining in Quebec.

التفاصيل البيبلوغرافية
العنوان: Mining in Quebec.
نوع الوثيقة: Electronic Resource
مستخلص: Quebec is attracting new investment to traditional mining areas and is planning to invest in the development of the north of the province, although the most recent Fraser Institute survey shows that it is now in fourth place behind Alberta, Nevada and Saskatchewan as a mining jurisdiction due to concerns relating to increased mining duties, uncertainty over changes to mining regulations and more restricted land access. Current mining, expansion and development activities are reviewed. Au projects include the Canadian Malartic, Croinor and Eleonore projects and the LaRonde, Goldex, Lapa, Mouska, Westwood, Casa Berardi, Lamaque, Sleeping Giant, Beaufor, Wasamac and Kiena mines. Au exploration projects in the Abitibi belt are described. Base metal operations include the Raglan Co-Cu-Ni mine, the Nunavik Ni project, the Domont sulphide Ni project, the Perseverance Cu-Zn mine and Bracemac-McLeod project and the Langlois Zn mine. The Renard project is expected to be Quebec's first diamond mine. A preliminary economic assessment has been made of the Strange Lake rare earth elements prospect, and other deposits being assessed include Kipawa, Montviel and Eldor. Hard-rock Li projects under development include the re-opening of a mine near Val d’Or and the Whabouchi and James Bay projects. A scoping study has been carried out at the Crevier Nb-Ta project and production is to be increased at the Niobec Nb mine. The most advanced U project is Matoush. Industrial minerals activities include the Lac Knife graphite project, The Havre St Pierre ilmenite mine, the La Blache ilmenite-magnetite project and the Lac a Paul phosphates project. Iron ore mines include Carol Lake, Mont Wright, Fire Lake, Wabush, Bloom Lake and the Schefferville group of properties. Projects include the LabMag and Kemag deposits, the Lac Otelnuk prospect, Duncan Lake and the Fermont properties. Engineering and process consultancies and mining services are reviewed.
