مستخلص: Over the last few Decades, the use of Camel Case Spelling for Compound Nouns in German has increased more and more (e.g. BahnCard). Descriptions of the Phenomenon have existed since the late 20th Century. Since then, Camel Case Spelling in modern German have been studied quite extensively. However, there are no more detailed, systematic Studies available on Camel Case Spelling in German of the 16th and 17th Centuries. This Article presents a Study of Camel Case Spelling in German between 1550 and 1710 based on a large Corpus of printed Sermon Texts. It also places a special Focus on the Relationship between Camel Case Spelling and Open-, Closed- and Hyphenated Spelling of Compound Nouns in German at the time. Furthermore, possible regional Differences in the Camel Case Spelling are investigated. The study shows that there is a marked increase in the use of Camel Case Spelling in Compound Nouns between 1550 and 1710. It is also noted that Camel Case Spelling is significantly more common among Open-, Closed- and Hyphenated Spelling Compound Nouns than among those written together.
