مستخلص:	In this article, we consider the significant process of cultural exchange that characterized the relationship between indigenous peoples and Jesuit missionaries in the reductions founded by religious men of the Company of Jesus in the Província Jesuítica of Paraguay. This is done through the analysis of libros de medicina produced in the first two decades of the 18th century, such as the ones attributed to Brothers Pedro de Montenegro and Marcos Villoda, and of works of Natural History, such as Paraguay Natural Ilustrado, by priest José Sánchez Labrador, written between 1771 and 1776. We highlight and discuss the therapeutic procedures adopted by the missionaries as well as the intellectual production resulting from their effort to ensure the healing of the souls and infirm bodies, as well as from the appropriation and circulation of knowledge and healing practices that they systematized. This analysis also considers the role played by indigenous informants, nurses and scribes as well as by religious men of the Company of Jesus in the conformation of a scientific culturein Latin America, in the 18th century, as evidenced in the Receituários and Matérias Médicas, that circulated among colleges and reductions of the Order, and in the works of Natural History that were written during exile, based on the experiences shared in the mission lands in America. Neste artigo, nos detemos no significativo processo de trocas culturais que caracterizou o convívio entre indígenas e missionários jesuítas nas reduções instaladas pelos religiosos da Companhia de Jesus na Província Jesuítica do Paraguay, a partir da análise de libros de medicina produzidos nas duas primeiras décadas do século XVIII, tais como os atribuídos aos irmãos Pedro de Montenegro e Marcos Villoda, e de obras de História Natural, como o Paraguay Natural Ilustrado, do padre José Sánchez Labrador, escrito entre 1771–1776. Destacamos e discutimos os procedimentos terapêuticos adotados pelos missionários e a produção intelectual resultante tanto de seu empenho em assegurar a cura das almas e dos corpos enfermos, quanto da apropriação e da circulação de saberes e práticas de cura que foram por eles sistematizados. A análise considera, ainda, o papel desempenhado por informantes, enfermeiros e copistas indígenas e por religiosos da Companhia de Jesus na conformação de uma cultura científica na América platina, no século XVIII, evidenciada nos Receituários e Matérias Médicas, que circularam entre os colégios e reduções da Ordem, e nas obras de História Natural que foram escritas, em especial, durante o exílio, a partir das experiências vividas nas terras de missão na América.
