| الوصف: | Alors que l’histoire des universités a connu récemment un réel renouveau historiographique international, celle de l’Université de Liège demeure, à bien des égards, en chantier même si divers ouvrages commémoratifs ont défriché le terrain. Cet article est une contribution synthétique actualisée à l’histoire des premières années d’enseignement supérieur à Liège (1811-1835). Il envisage d’abord la situation durant la période française avant de se pencher sur l’application de l’arrêté de 1816 et sur l’histoire de l’Université d’Etat sous Guillaume Ier. Il conclut sur le grand bouleversement que constitue la Révolution de 1830 et les risques de disparition encourus alors par l’Université de Liège jusqu’à sa pérennisation comme université d’Etat par la loi organique de septembre 1835.While the history of universities has known recently a real international renewal, research relating to the University of Liège is still in progress even if several commemorative books have somewhat cleared the path. This article is a summarized and actualized contribution to the first years (1811-1835) of higher education at Liège. Starting with the situation at the end of the French era, it focuses on the decree of 1816, the evolution of a State-operated university under William I. It ends with the chaos following the 1830 Revolution and the risks of disbandment until the organic law of September 1835 allowed its survival as a State University. |
