The existence of gravitational waves was predicted by A. Einstein in 1916 as part of the theory of General Relativity. However, it will take almost a century to obtain experimental proof of their existence. The detection was made thanks to the implementation of extremely sensitive giant interferometers, operating according to the concepts imagined by A.A. Michelson at the beginning of the 20th century. These tools use the most sophisticated improvements offered by LASER technologies helped by the most powerful computing tools.
