| الوصف: | Actualment s'està vivint una enorme eclosió en la resolució d'estructures tridimensionals de proteïnes, d'àcids nucleics i dels seus diversos complexos. Sens dubte ens trobem enmig d'una autèntica revolució en la biologia molecular i cel·lular essencialment liderada per l'estructura, que ha donat lloc a una disciplina relativament jove anomenada biologia estructural. La millora de la instrumentació i la disponibilitat de noves eines de computació han accelerat el ritme d'adquisició d'informació estructural i s'han aconseguit acumular dades estructurals extensives. L'objectiu avui ja no és la simple descripció de noves estructures sinó abordar, comprendre i fins i tot predir la dinàmica funcional de les biomolècules naturals, així com les interaccions dels àtoms intrínseques als canvis reactius de les macromolècules, per fornir la possibilitat de manipular-les i modificar-les. Tridimensional Science. The past few years have witnessed a tremendous explosion in the number of three-dimensional structures of proteins, nucleic acids and their various complexes. There is no doubt that we are in the midst of a revolution in molecular and cellular biology that is, in large part, being driven by structure. This latter has given rise to a relatively young discipline known as structural biology. Improved instrumentation and powerful computational tools have greatly accelerated the rate at which structural information is accumulating and has led to extensive structural databases. The next important steps are to understand and even predict the functional dynamics of native biomolecules, but also the intrinsic interactions of atoms to reactive changes in macromolecules, bringing about the possibility of intervention. |
