| الوصف: | Este ensaio considera a importância da confluência entre o elemento fantástico em torno do topos “tuer le mandarin” e a problemática representação da China na narrativa O Mandarim, de Eça de Queirós. O ângulo de enfoque centra-se na figuração do livro dentro da narrativa, sua leitura e escrita, e no modo como uma retórica da distância e da substituição contribui para uma visão mediada e artificializante do Oriente. This article considers the importance of the connection between the fantastic in the French topos of “killing the mandarin” and the complex representation of China in the novel O Mandarim, by Eça de Queirós. Our perspective privileges the role of the book in the text, its writing and reading, focusing on the contribution of a rhetorics of distance and replacement to produce a mediated and artificialized vision of the East. |
