| الوصف: | L’article estudia les aportacions realitzades per Sebastià Farnés (1854 1934) en el camp de la paremiologia des de les seves publicacions a les revistes catalanes de l’època (La Renaixensa, La Ilustració Catalana, Arxiu de Tradicions Populars i Catalana) i l’edició del llibre Assaig de paremiologia catalana comparada (1913) fins a l’elaboració de la seva gran obra, la Paremiologia catalana comparada (1992 99). L’estudi analitza les motivacions que van dur Farnés a interessar se per la paremiologia, les influències que va rebre i la seva col laboració amb l’Arxiu d’Etnografia i Folklore de Catalunya, dirigit per Tomàs Carreras i Artau. Els resultats del treball mostren que Farnés va ser un folklorista preparat, que va aplicar amb eficàcia el comparativisme a l’estudi de les parèmies. Finalment, la seva gran contribució a l’estudi de la paremiologia catalana el situa com una de les figures més importants de la història del folklore català. The article studies the contributions offered by Sebastià Farnés (1854 -‐‑ 1934 ) in the field of paremiology from his publications in the Catalan journals of his time (La Renaixensa, La Ilustració Catalana, Arxiu de Tradicions Populars i Catalana) and the edition of the book Assaig de paremiologia catalana c omparada (1913) to the pre paration of his great work, Paremiologia catalana c omparada (1992 -‐‑ 99). The study analyses the reasons for Farnés becoming interested in paremiology, the influences that he received and his collaboration with the Arxiu d’Etnografia i Folklore de Catalunya u nder the direction of Tomàs Carreras i Artau. The results of this work show that Farnés was a well prepared folklorist, who efficiently applied the comparative method to the study of proverbs. Finally, his great contribution to the study of Catalan paremiology places him among the most important figures in the history of Catalan folklore.
