الوصف: Both Lope de Vega and Shakespeare enjoyed the favor of the public when they were alive; however, their posthumous fortunes have been very different. In this paper we use a statistical approach to analyse the impact that the cinematographic adaptations of their plays have had in diseminating Lope de Vega and Shakespeare's heritage during the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. We also addres the lack of cinematographical adaptations of Lope’s works, and explain the neglect suffered by this theatrical heritage in Spain and beyond.
A pesar de que Lope de Vega y Shakespeare gozaron en vida del favor del público, la fortuna póstuma de los autores ha corrido una suerte muy distinta. En el presente artículo se reflexiona a partir de los resultados ofrecidos por la estadística sobre el impacto que han tenido las adaptaciones cinematográficas de las obras teatrales de los autores a la hora de dar —o no dar— a conocer su legado literario a lo largo del siglo XX y XXI. Asimismo, en el trabajo se responde a por qué no existe una tradición de adaptación cinematográfica del teatro lopesco, y se da cuenta de la desatención fílmica que este patrimonio teatral ha padecido en el panorama internacional y en particular en España.
