The analysis and valuation of the book by Antonio Santos Tierras de ningún lugar. Utopía y cine (Lands of no place. Utopia and cinema) serves as an occasion to think about the nature of Utopian reflection in its literary version and in the cinematographic medium. A historical approach to literary forms draws attention to the differences between the intrinsically utopian and the satirical. From the point of view of the history of the ways of performance in the cinema, the classical narrative hinder the moral stillness of utopian discourse, while the mannerist and postmodern narration portrays a utopia condemned to the status of mere illusion. This approach implies considering utopia as an element that in the cinema is integrated into a contradictory and dialectical text. |
