| الوصف: | [eng] During the past few years, studies concerned with sediments in littoral underwater caves have experienced a hugegrowth because the development of cave-diving exploration and dating techniques. Coves del Drac (Mallorca, WesternMediterranean), which are one of the most relevant karstic system of the island of Mallorca, develop on Upper Miocenecarbonate rocks cropping out along the east coast of Mallorca. Recent speleodiving surveys provide new opportunities todeep in the knowledge of the cave and specifically this work deals with the sediments accumulated along the underwatergalleries and chambers. This study shows the physico-chemical analysis of 19 sediment samples taken from different areasalong the cave. Four major sedimentary facies have been obtained by means of statistical treatment of physico-chemicaldata. There are two carbonate facies, ranging in grain size from silt to find sand. The first one relates with calcite raftscrystals derived from the chemical precipitation at the air-water interface, and the second one with the accumulation ofcarbonate grains as a product of cave rock wall granular disintegration. On the other hand, there are other two facies withheterogeneous mineralogy and grain size, but with a distinctive feature such as the presence of oxides and siliceous materialsand a decline in clay content. These facies are mainly related to sediment transport processes triggered by water infiltrationinside the cave system. From a spatial point of view all the sedimentary processes and mechanism account all around thecave but with different degrees; therefore, very often it is not easy distinguishing between the different facies. Otherwise thecharacterized sediments resemble or are very similar to those from other coastal karst caves of eastern Mallorca. [cat] Durant els últims anys, els estudis sobre sediments en coves subaquàtiques litorals han experimentat un gran creixementdegut al desenvolupament de tècniques d’espeleobusseig i de datació. Les coves del Drac (Mallorca, Mediterrània occidental),que són un dels sistemes càrstics més rellevants de l’illa de Mallorca, es desenvolupen en les roques carbonatades delmiocè superior que es troben al llarg de la costa est de Mallorca. Les recents descobertes subaquàtiques proporcionen novesoportunitats per aprofundir en el coneixement de la cova i específicament aquest treball s’ocupa dels sediments acumulatsal llarg de les galeries i sales sotaiguades. Aquest estudi mostra l’anàlisi físico-química de 19 mostres de sediment preses endiferents àrees al llarg de la cova. S’han distingit quatre fàcies sedimentàries importants mitjançant el tractament estadísticde les dades físico-químiques. Hi ha dues fàcies carbonatades, amb una mida de gra entre els llims i les arenes. La primera esrelaciona amb els cristalls de calcita flotant derivats de la precipitació química produïda en la interfase aire-aigua, i la segonaamb l’acumulació de grans de carbonat com a producte de la desintegració granular de la roca encaixant. D’altra banda,hi ha altres dues fàcies amb una mineralogia i mida de gra heterogènia, però amb una característica distintiva com és lapresència d’òxids, materials silicis i una disminució en el contingut d’argila. Aquestes fàcies es relacionen principalment ambels processos de transport de sediments desencadenats per la infiltració d’aigua dins del sistema subterrani. Des d’un punt devista espacial tots els processos i mecanismes sedimentaris actuen a tot el sistema, però amb diferents graus; per tant, moltsovint no és fàcil distingir entre les diferents fàcies. Amb tot, els sediments caracteritzats s’assemblen o són molt similars alsd’altres coves càrstiques litorals de l’est de Mallorca. |
