| الوصف: | La petite province de Dombes, située au nord de la ville de Lyon, était couverte de nombreux étangs artificiels. Cette région humide connaissait également une forte mortalité et de nombreux auteurs du XVIIIème et du XIXème siècle ont établi un lien de causalité entre ces deux paramètres. L'environnement a par la suite évolué, avec l'assèchement de nombreux étangs dans la seconde moitié du XIXème siècle, puis la remise en eau de certains au début du XXème siècle. Cet article propose un examen en parallèle des conditions environnementales, des structures sociales et du régime démographique local, afin de percevoir les liens et les interactions entre ces différents paramètres qui ont fortement évolué au cours des trois derniers siècles. This humid area also suffered from very high mortality, and most of the writers of past centuries thought that these two facts were closely related, the ponds being responsible for high mortality.With the drainage of a large proportion of the ponds during the second half of the nineteenth century, and then with the impounding of some of them at the beginning of the twentieth century, the environment was modified. In this paper we propose to examine the environment, social structures and demographic regime simultaneously, in order to evaluate the relations and interactions between these parameters that have changed significantly over the three last centuries.
