| الوصف: | En Éthiopie, les plantes qui fournissent de l’huile sont nombreuses et originales, inscrites dans des systèmes de production variés et associées à de multiples usages et pratiques locales. La présente contribution s’interroge sur le statut du carthame, du sésame et du coton comme produits des terroirs dans le contexte des contreforts montagneux du Rift de l’Éthiopie centrale. Tout d’abord, les unités sociales et territoriales correspondant aux « pays » lagär spécialisés dans la production de ces oléagineux ont été identifiées. Puis, les évolutions de ces territoires de production ont été étudiées en tenant compte des changements socio-économiques récents. Ces pays apparaissent comme le résultat de l’histoire du foncier et de l’organisation sociale. Ils intègrent tant les particularités environnementales du milieu que les représentations culturelles des communautés qui y résident. In Ethiopia, oilseeds are many and original, they are integrated into various systems of production and are related to divers uses and local practices. The present contribution discusses the status of the safflower, the sesam and the cotton, as “produits de terroir” (agricultural products related to a specific geographical area and know-how) on the mountainous foothills of the Rift Valley, in Central Ethiopia. At first, the social and geographical unities corresponding to the territory specialised in the production of theses oilseeds/agär were identified. Then, the evolutions of these agär were studied in relation with recent socio-economical changes. These territories appear as the result of the history of the land tenure and the social organisation. They integrate the specific ecological characteristics of the area as well as the cultural representations of its dwellers. |
