| الوصف: | Le quartier du Plateau à Abidjan a longtemps été surnommé le “Petit Manhattan”. L’identification au CBD d’une grande ville occidentale n’est pas fortuit, et mérite d’être replacé dans une histoire urbaine qui, de l’appropriation de l’héritage colonial à l’assimilation parfois incomplète de pratiques urbaines dites “occidentales”, a mobilisé à travers des structures institutionnelles exemplaires techniciens de la villes et élus. L’importance de ces derniers impose que l’on évoque, dans le contexte ivoirien, la porté politique du discours et des pratiques qui accompagnent la promotion de certains modèles urbains. The ‘Plateau’ district of Abidjan has long been nicknamed the ‘small Manhattan’. Identification with the CBD of a western city is not fortuitous; it should be considered in the context of an urban history which, from the appropria-tion of the colonial heritage to the sometimes partial assimilation of ‘western’ forms of urbanization, has inspired through exemplary institutional structures, both urban planners and politicians. The importance of this latter group makes it essential to evoke, in the context of the Ivory Coast, the political impact of pronouncements and actions which accompany the promotion of certain urban models. |
