| الوصف: | In questo mio intervento vorrei proporre quelli che mi piace definire alcuni «appunti sparsi e persi» su Amelia Rosselli, mutuando un’espressione della stessa autrice: si tratta di un invito a un’ipotesi di rilettura nel nome della madre, andando oltre un pattern interpretativo ormai classico e forse limitante. Convinta che il confronto con la lingua della madre, un inglese non sussunto con il latte materno ma ‘succhiato’ dai libri, sia un buon punto d’avvio per capire l’Amelia fu Marion piuttosto che l’Amelia fu Carlo, cerco qui di ripensarla attraverso i suoi scritti inglesi, compresi quelli a oggi ancora inediti conservati presso il Fondo Rosselli del Centro di ricerca sulla tradizione manoscritta di autori moderni e contemporanei dell’Università di Pavia. L’inglese è per lei territorio femminile/materno come apertura a spazi del ‘sentimento’, ma è anche una lingua intellettuale, una lingua che è acquisita e che le è più familiare nelle modulazioni di padri o madri elettive, come Donne, Shakespeare, Joyce, Thomas, Cummings, Woolf, Dickinson, Plath e tanti altri, che nel suono vocale della sua «empty mother»: propongo qui un percorso che recupera entrambi questi aspetti in alcuni testi inglesi presi a campione, rintracciando trame psicoanalitiche (con il rinvio a Jung) e altre epifanie poetiche (Virginia Woolf e Dylan Thomas), lasciando una chiusa volutamente aperta che invita a rileggere Amelia Rosselli. In this essay I would like to introduce what I like to call «appunti sparsi e persi», «lost and scattered notes» on Amelia Rosselli, paraphrasing an expression used by the Author herself: it is an invitation to a hypothesis of reinterpretation under her mother’s name, going beyond a classic and perhaps limiting interpretative pattern. Persuaded that the comparison with the mother’s language, an English not subsumed with the breast milk but ‘sucked’ from the books instead, constitutes a good starting point for understanding Amelia as Marion’s daughter rather than as Carlo’s, I try to rethink her through her English writings, including the unpublished ones kept in the Fondo Rosselli at the Centro Manoscritti Autori Moderni e Contemporanei of the University of Pavia. To Amelia, English is the feminine/motherly territory opening up to spaces of the ‘feeling’, as well as an intellectual language, an acquired language that is more familiar in the modulation of elective fathers or mothers, like Donne, Shakespeare, Joyce, Thomas Cummings, Woolf, Dickinson, Plath and many others, than in her «empty mother»’s sound of voice: I propose here a pattern that groups, in some English texts taken as sample, both of these aspects, tracking some psychoanalytic plots (with reference to Jung) and other poetic epiphanies (Virginia Woolf and Dylan Thomas), with a closure that is left deliberately open and invites to re-read Amelia Rosselli. |
