| الوصف: | La gestation pour autrui (GPA) est aujourd’hui une pratique médicalisée et globalisée, particulièrement controversée, surtout lorsqu’elle se fait dans des pays moins développés. C’est le cas de l’Inde qui a développé ces dernières décennies une importante offre à cet égard. La GPA en Inde reste pourtant une réalité peu documentée. En 2013 et 2014, dans la dynamique des quelques recherches anthropologiques menées sur le sujet dans le pays, j’ai mené une étude de terrain à Mumbai, puis à Chennai et New Delhi pour comprendre la pratique de la GPA à travers les discours et expériences de ses protagonistes. Mon objectif n’est cependant pas ici d’analyser ces entretiens mais d’étudier les principales difficultés rencontrées dans la construction et le déroulement de mon terrain. A posteriori, ces difficultés sont apparues comme cohérentes avec l’analyse des données empiriques recueillies. Elles sont révélatrices, en partie, des représentations et de l’organisation de la GPA en Inde. Surrogacy, now a global medical practice, is highly controversial, especially when it occurs in less developed countries. This is the case in India where surrogacy facilities have greatly developed in recent decades. Nevertheless, surrogacy in India is still poorly documented, compared with the magnitude of the debate surrounding the practice worldwide. In 2013 and 2014, following upon several localized anthropological studies of the topic, I undertook a two-year field study, first in Mumbai, then in Chennai and New Delhi. The objective was to understand this biomedical practice through the discourses and experiences of those involved, particularly the intended parents and surrogates. Rather than an analysis of these interviews, this paper focuses on the difficulties encountered throughout this fieldwork, ones that now appear to be consistent with what was observed and then analysed. Indeed, these difficulties are revealing, in part, of the reality of surrogacy in India. |
